This December marks the arrival of Hack the Holidays 2, a weekend-long event where students immerse themselves in building all manner of digital things.
Now in its second year, it presents a great, free opportunity for learning more about code, gaining wisdom from development experts and promoting some healthy competition for the keenest of young hackers.
In this event where festivities and having a good time are held in as high regard as the hacking itself, the aim is for high school students over the age of 14 up to those of university age to get stuck into coding. The hackathon is designed for attendees right from entry level through to those who have spent a lot of time hacking, building and messing with code already.
Taking place on the 17th and 18th December 2016 at our home in the Allia Future Business Centre, we’re proud to be Elf Sponsors of this great event. Last year, one of our founders, Scott, dropped into the previous Hack the Holidays event. He liked the idea so much that Riselabs decided to be involved in its sponsorship this year, as part of our ongoing commitment to developing Peterborough’s tech community. So with that in mind, the Riselabs team will be making an appearance. We might even have a go at hacking something ourselves…
Across the event, students will benefit from great workshops held by GitHub, who specialise in creating spaces for simple, collaborative development as well as Nexmo, who build fantastic cloud-based APIs to centralise business’ communications.
If you’re a student and are interested in getting involved, no matter what your ability level, you can register here. You can also ask additional questions directly to the organisers at firstname.lastname@example.org. Food and drink is provided, so all you’ll need to bring along is your own laptop. Happy hacking!
